Orly Meet Me Under the Mistletoe vs. China Glaze Watermelon Rind

When I first saw swatches of Orly’s Meet Me Under the Mistletoe from their Holiday 2010 collection pop up, I really wanted it. Something about the description of a dark blue-green with shimmer just drew me in.

In fact, the same description made me want one of my very favourites — China Glaze’s Watermelon Rind.

I hesitated, thinking they might be very similar. But in the end, I got the Orly hoping that it wouldn’t be close (I don’t even like close siblings in my collection) and a little bit hoping that it would be (as my bottle of Watermelon Rind is running low).

As you can see, Watermelon Rind is a bit lighter and  a lot cooler than Meet Me Under the Mistletoe. Watermelon Rind also has a sort of silver-green glassfleck shimmer while Meet Me Under the Mistletoe has golden green to bright green shimmer not unlike the Orly Cosmics, but without the duochrome effect.

Basically, to me, Meet Me Under the Mistletoe seems like a dark blue-green base with lighter green shimmer.

In fact, it’s aptly named for the season bringing to mind evergreens and Christmas.

I know what I’m going to be wearing come Christmas holidays!

Cheers!
