Yeah. I’m a sci-fi nerd. And there really is something about space that is just so intensely beautiful for me. I have a few space-stars inspired nail polishes (China Glaze’s Cosmic, Eyeko’s Cosmic, Wet’n’Wild’s Midnight…) and while lovely, none of them really look like space.
In my wanderings through the blogsphere, I’ve seen at least a couple of space inspired manicures. Some quite realistic, some not so much. I really wanted to give it a go! 😀 So here it is… inspired by space and some inspirational nail bloggers.
What do you think? This was my first time sponging. And I used a regular (new) dish-washing sponge together with the following polishes:
I made a conscious decision not to use my space-themed polishes and try to create a space-theme with regular ones.
I started out with two coats of China Glaze’s Liquid Leather — a black creme — topped it with Seche Vite and let it dry.
Then I took a small piece of sponge and gently and unevenly added the following polishes in this order: China Glaze’s DV8 — a teal holo –, SpaRitual’s It’s Raining Men — a sheer blue to pink duochrome with a golden flash –, Alix Avien No 189 — a scattered silver holo — and Sally Hansen’s Shooting Stars — a sheer blue base holo glitter topcoat. On some nails that got a bit too much of the coloured polishes, I sponged on just a bit of Liquid Leather on top. 🙂
Topped everything with two coats of Seche Vite to make it as glossy and glassy as possible.
Sponging was easier and more fun than I’d imagined. And it wasn’t messy at all! You can see that from the pictures as I didn’t need to clean up anything after this manicure.
So, what do you think?
p.s. Hope you realised the first picture is my regular nail close-up! 😉
