Oldish Old Town

An abandoned building I’ve always adored in Tallinn’s Old Town. Walking home today. 🙂

  1. Oh oh oh!! This breaks my heart. Abandoned buildings really is a sore spot for me, I don’t know why… just makes me think of all the lives that took place between those walls, and how sad it is that the house and its history is alone and forgotten now…
At the same time I love taking pics of them. maybe that should be my new series on the blog, when i’m done with the subway!

    • I know exactly what you mean. 🙂 I love the feel of history in them… and this house is one of my all time favourites in the Old Town.

I also think that sounds like an amazing idea for post-subway pics (I love those too, btw!) 🙂

      • I wish I could go inside and walk around. I found an abandoned house on a trip to Hong Kong once and some friends and I walked around in it for a while! It was awesome.. old photos, news papers, a curtain, the rusty fridge had traces of moldy food in it. It was amazing until we found the spiders….

  2. Don’t they ever have groups that like to renovate those kinds of buildings? We do which I think is pretty cool.

    • We do. And a lot of the Old Town is restored. But as the entire Old Town is part of the Unesco World Heritage, they have incredibly strict (and über-expensive) restoration requirements… that kinda puts a stop to some initiatives.
