Precious Treasure

I bought this polish a little over a year ago and I’ve actually worn it a few times since… never got around to posting about it though!

Despite coming from last year’s fall collection Alessandro’s Precious Treasure reminds me a lot of the gothic, blackened shimmers that so many brands have been putting out this year.

It has a dark navy base with tons of large, flecky green and blue shimmer.

Definitely feeling the inspiration behind the name here… shimmery treasures in the depths of the ocean. Look at me all poetic. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Second consequtive day posting? I’m on a roll! ๐Ÿ˜€

Something cute to go with something precious.

Nude Nail Art

For some reason, often my first instinct is to do free-hand nail art on a nude-coloured base. I really don’t know why.

Because I’m not even sure I like the effect. That is scribbles on a bare nail. ๐Ÿ˜›

Still. I seem to have done it again for the weekend.

I first started off my painting my nails with three coats of Alessandro Peaches & Cream.ย Hate the formula, but it is the most accurate mannequin hands polish for me in my collection. (I have no idea why I have so many nudes as I really don’t like them…)

And then I used Essie Geranium, Essence Wake Up!, Essence Sundancer and Nubar Milk Chocolate to paint some flowers on the base.

Voila! What are you wearing to welcome in autumn with this weekend? ๐Ÿ™‚ And don’t forget to check out the foods! ๐Ÿ˜‰

You Call This Chocolate?

I was in the mood to give a polish a second chance. I usually love Alessandro’s LE collections because they come about often with tons of gorgeous colours.

Last year I picked up Chocolate Flip in early spring. In theory it has everything going for it — irregular large silver and gold shimmer/glitter in a light brown base.

In practice, I’m not liking it the second time around either. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Day 24: Inspired by a Book

Here’s the 24th task of the challenge: nails inspired by a book. Or, in my case, books. According to Goodreads, I read something around 300 novels a year, and immediately after finishing I loooove most of them. ๐Ÿ˜›

So, instead of going with one novel, I scanned in and printed out sections from a few novels I’ve read recently and used them to do the so-called “newspaper nails”.

I started with a base of a the beautiful Alessandro Milkshake — an aptly named pale pink two-coater.

And then added a couple of layers of printed words.

All I can say about this… about time I tried this! I love the result and I’m eager to try it again one of these days.

Day 9: Rainbow

I really need to step up with this challenge. While doing this, I’ve accumulated so many new polishes this past week that I can’t wait to try that I’m a little bit frustrated…

Here’s day 9: rainbow nails!

I painted my nails with two coats of Models Own Beth’s Blue — a gorgeous periwinkle pastel creme. (I have so much love for this shade!)

Then I used a toothpick dipped in a variety of polishes (China Glaze Hey Sailor! – Alix Avien No 180 – SH Mellow Yellow – Sinful Colors Innocent – Alessandro Turquoise Ocean – SpaRitual Circle of Life – ChG Flying Dragon).

I had kids call this “rasta-nails”. ๐Ÿ˜€ I think we need to re-examine what rasta means with them. ๐Ÿ˜›

p.s. I picked up my first MAC lipstick today — Impassioned — and I think I am absolutely in love. My previous everyday lippe was Make Up Store’s Pout, but I wanted a change for the warmer weather… and Impassioned makes me so happy. ๐Ÿ˜€

Day 5: Blue

I couldn’t even remotely decide which of my blues to wear for this part of the challenge. I mean, Iย adore blue.

So I wore five of them! ๐Ÿ˜€

From pinky to-thumb: OPI What’s With the Cattitude? – China Glaze Flying Highย – Alessandro Turquoise Ocean – H&M Blue My Mind – Barry M Cobalt Blue.

And here’s an รผber-rare shot with thumb included!

I โ™ฅ blue! ๐Ÿ˜€

Day 2: Orange

Here is day 2 of the challenge: ORANGE!

This mani is so vibrant it completely freaked out my camera. Which kinda makes me like it even more. ๐Ÿ˜‰

This is Alessandro’s Long Island —ย a bright orange with pinkish glassflecks — sponged with Orly’s Emberstone. I can’t say which polish I love more and the combo is perfect.

Incredibly sparkly. And with a strong pinkish gradient tint in sunlight.

Yellow, tomorrow! ๐Ÿ™‚
