Holorific Friday

Or something. ๐Ÿ™‚ Here’s a quick one for the weekend. My very first holo bought before I even knew holos existed! Seriously. I just thought it looked like a pretty periwinkle shimmer in the muted light of the store here I got it.

I’m talking about China Glaze 2nite, of course. ๐Ÿ™‚

You cant’ imagine the moment when I first wore it and saw it in sunlight! Suffice to say that was the beginning of my love for anything holo and by now I have quite a few — scattered, linerar, sheer, glittery you name it.

None can beat 2nite as a favourite though.ย  IMG_0857

You see why. ๐Ÿ˜€

Kinda goes with these perfectly warm and sunny summer days of yesteryear…

Keeping it Sparkly

I’m catching up! This was a quick one fromย December. I needed an out-the-door in a few minutes mani and there’s really nothign as quick drying as a chrome and crackle top.

Could have kept it to just chrome, but that’s too unforgiving on my damaged nails. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Here’s China Glaze Millennium with Isadora Pink Fame on top.

IMO, Pink Fame is still the most stunning glitter crackle top coat invented. It’s so insanely sparkly with the holo glitter and the cool light pink. Perfect with silver. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Besides being eye catching, this mani was pretty much dry by the time I finished with the last nail. Can’t ask for more than that! ๐Ÿ˜€

The Two Reincarnations of a NYE Mani

First of all: happy new year all! ๐Ÿ˜€ Secondly, my main resolution that relates to my online activities is definitely to try to update my blog more often. I mean, I still do my nails with alarming frequency… no reason why I shouldn’t upload the pics.

When I was over at my mum’s for Christmas, she went about reading predictions and horoscopes for 2013 (she’s into things like that ๐Ÿ™‚ ) and while I knew nothing about the lucky colours for the brand new 2013 before…

I remembered my mum saying that combinations of purple and silver were the luckiest thing. So that’s what I went with for my NYE mani.

I did my nails with the perfect purple creme of China Glaze’s Grape Pop (still a favourite!) and sponged on an old purple-y multicoloured glitter polish and my ring finger with the accent of Orly Out of This World complete with silver studs.

I adored this mani and wore it for three days. And then yesterday decided to update it keeping the accent finger. I love the studs!

I used an old favourite here as well — China Glaze Grape Juice and kept the purple theme.

I adore Grape Juice, but I’m sadly now out of it. Maybe enough left for an accent nail or two in the bottle, but no full manis with it anymore. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

So, which do you like more? ๐Ÿ™‚

And on the Second Day of Christmas

it’s all about green! ๐Ÿ˜€

And glitter. Green and glitter. ๐Ÿ™‚ When I originally saw this in the display for China Glaze’s Holiday collection I decided not to pick this up, because I thought something along the lines, “OMG this looks soย amazing in the bottle that it can’t possibly live up to the promise on the nail and I don’t want to set myself up for disappointment.”

Because that happens quite often with glitters.

That said, I still ended up buying Winter Holly. ๐Ÿ˜›

It delivers. Boy, does it deliver! ๐Ÿ˜€ Evergreen glitter with holo particles means this is my new favourite Christmas green.

Well done, China Glaze! ๐Ÿ™‚

And I hope everybody’s enjoying their holidays. I know I am with my Battlestar Galactica marathon. ๐Ÿ˜‰

p.s. My cat is also a sci-fi enthusiast. ๐Ÿ™‚

Ready for Christmas

Feels like there are a couple of dozen manis in my folders I haven’t gotten around to posting this year. Probably feels that way, because it’s true. ๐Ÿ˜›

Still, with this mani I’m not playing catch-up as I added the top coat minutes ago and now all I need to be completely ready for Christmas is to bake myย gingersnaps. ๐Ÿ˜€

So, not having done nail art for a long time, I was just overflowing with ideas for what I wanted on my nails for Christmas.

And when there’s a difficult choice to be made… go with everything. ๐Ÿ˜€ So, skittles it is.

BeYu No 209 with BYS Pot of Gold – China Glaze Hey Sailor! tipped with Twinkle Lights – China Glaze Midnight Kiss stamped with red and tipped with OPI Rainbow Connection – China Glaze Ruby Pumps on the pinkie

My thumb was the deep yellow of Pupa No 088 topped with Twinkle Lights and Pot of Gold.

I love every single nail! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

That said, I’d forgotten justย howย gorgeous Ruby Pumps is! It’s been over a year since it was on my nails and with all the fascinating multichromes and stuff coming out lately, it’s easy to forget such a classic. But seriously. It has to be one of the most beautiful polishes ever made. Not even kidding. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope everybody is enjoying their holidays! ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s Blue Today

After wearing Skyscraper, which is one of my favourite blue glitters, I felt inspired to dig out one of my oldest polishes.

In fact, this comes from either my first or second nail polish haul, back when I first started collection. And boy, was I excited to get it! And then I swatched it on one nail, felt incredibly disappointed and off it went to the black hole that is the untrieds drawer.

China Glaze Meteor Shower. Insanely pretty in the bottle. Insanely difficult on the nails. The formula is the old, stinky kind, which is also goopy and difficult to manage.

Upside — it only takes two coats.

Dries really gritty though. I used two coats of Seche on top and probably could have used a third.

Once you’ve done all the hard work, it is gorgeous. The work is hard enough and there are a lot easier glitters around now though, that once every three years is probably as often as I’m gonna wear it. ๐Ÿ˜›

The day before the snow came.

Sometimes you just have to shimmer and sparkle. I felt like that a couple of weeks ago andย finally got around to posting this beautiful polish.

I bought China Glaze’s Skyscraper last autumn and it actually made it to my favourites of 2011; however, I never got around to taking pictures until now.

This is just an amazingly sparkly denim blue jelly filled with silver glitter.

One of my favourite things about this (besides being stunning!) is that it’s opaque and smooth without extra effort unlike a lot of other glitters I’ve met. ๐Ÿ˜‰

A lot here to love. ๐Ÿ™‚ I think of this as an “adult” glitter as well for some reason… unlike more extravagant glitters I feel comfortable wearing this to work. Luckily I don’t have a neutral polish rule… but I still feel kinda off with some stuff.

We got a ton of snow the past weekend! Here’s one of my favourite running routes a week ago. Racked up a lovely 15k still despite the more-skating than running factor of that particular day. ๐Ÿ˜‰
