For some reason, often my first instinct is to do free-hand nail art on a nude-coloured base. I really don’t know why.
Because I’m not even sure I like the effect. That is scribbles on a bare nail. 😛
Still. I seem to have done it again for the weekend.
I first started off my painting my nails with three coats of Alessandro Peaches & Cream. Hate the formula, but it is the most accurate mannequin hands polish for me in my collection. (I have no idea why I have so many nudes as I really don’t like them…)
And then I used Essie Geranium, Essence Wake Up!, Essence Sundancer and Nubar Milk Chocolate to paint some flowers on the base.
Voila! What are you wearing to welcome in autumn with this weekend? 🙂 And don’t forget to check out the foods! 😉
Is it just me or is my blog pink? Seriously. It just changed into pink overnight and despite all my colour settings being blue (and refreshing them etc.) I can’t seem to change it back. What the … WordPress?
That said, I just couldn’t resist one more day of A Lovely Secret. It’s so pretty! So I decided to update it with a zebra stamp using China Glaze 2030. And then a matte top coat. 🙂
Yup. I’m definitely enjoying how this turned out. There’s just something about the combination of these pale cool colours and matte+chrome.
I’m pretty sure I’m gonna have a hard time taking this off!
Here’s another one that goes in the list of can’t-believe-I-haven’t-worn-this-before. I saw Essence A Lovely Secret in a blog once upon a time and immediately needed it. Luckily, I managed to pick it up this summer…
And then it didn’t impress me in the bottle that much.
It is entirely awesome on the nails. Something between a periwinkle blue and lilac (which are the most flattering shades I can think of on me) with this awesome pink shimmer and darker purple shimmer.
I couldn’t catch the pink shimmer in the pictures, but it’s totally there. 🙂 And the name is so accurate — from farther away it looks like a beautiful lilac and then up close you see all the secret shimmer.
Here’s one of my favourite abandoned buildings in the old town.
So, not quite a neon, but a really bright and happy polish for today. 🙂 I’ve had Essence’s Wake Up! on my wishlist for ages and to be honest, when I finally saw it in the store… I was confused about why I’d originally put it there.
I mean, it’s just an orange creme.
But it’s spectacular on the nails! It looks a lot more saturated and bright than in the bottle.
The formula is a nice two-coater too.
So, despite the original hesitation, I’m happy I picked this up. 🙂
I also wonder when I started considering oranges on nails flattering… it used to be one of my complete no-nos.
Here’s the watermarble day of the challenge. 🙂 But before that, a little rant — I’m in a nail polish funk lately, it seems. I spent some time in Finland (hence the slight absence, sorry!) and dropped by some stores and looked at all the H&M, Models Own, Wet’n’Wild, etc polishes I’ve been craving…
And came back home without picking up a single one. 😮 I mean, they were pretty, but I could always think of a polish I already owned which was pretty much the same. Ditto with the gorgeous Alessandro summer collection full of stunners. 😦
Kind of makes me want to shout: Aren’t there any original polishes out there any more?!
Enough of that, here’s my watermarble:
I used American Apparel L’Esprit for the base. Then I used L’Esprit, Essence Surferama and MIYO Peacock for the marble.
I think it turned out alright, but I’m not a fan of the waterbubbles on some of the nails. Also, Peacock turned out to be a bit too sheer — I wanted a pastel yellow to contrast the lilac and berry pink, but instead it looks like an off-white.
Still, considering I’ve done a watermarble only twice before… not too shabby. 🙂
