A Happy Accident

This mani came together as an accident and I absolutely love it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Here’s the situation — huge chips on two nails, big evening out, half an hour to take off the previous mani and go out the door.

Naturally, I needed something amazingly fast drying. So I went for the amazing Golden Rose Mattes.

I painted my nails with Matte Velvet No 103 and since that wasn’tย eye catchingย  enough… parked it up with Golden Rose Graffiti No 11.

And the whole thing took around 15 minutes until I was able to get dressed and move on to makeup. What’s not to love about an easy and fast mani that still looks like you’ve put some effort into your nails? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Happy upcoming weekend! ๐Ÿ˜€

Magnetic Polish

I filed down my nails. ๐Ÿ™‚ I like it. Which of course also meant a dark colour!

I located a Golden Rose Magnetic polish in No 9 that I’d forgot I had in one of my drawers. It’s a gorgeous blackened teal. ๐Ÿ™‚

Unfortunately I got impatient with the magnet, so the effect is barely there on my ring finger… but I still like the polish.

Though I do have to admit that despite trying a couple, I still don’t get the popularity of magnetic polishes. I guess they’re just not my thing.

Day 19: Galaxies

Here’s the 19th task of the challnge — galaxy nails. I love me some “galaxy imitation” nail polish and galaxy manicures. ๐Ÿ™‚

This time I decided to take this in a different direction and go for dark blue andย abstract. I started with one coat of another of the Golden Rose Matte’s — No 10. This I painted over with a coat of the sheer on its own Wet n Wild Midnight.

I love the tiny holo glitter in Midnight! But that wasn’t enough of course, so I sponged on in random places the purple holo of Teeez Outta Control and China Glaze Liquid Crystal.

I love Liquid Crystal so much! Can’t wait to wear it on its own. ๐Ÿ™‚

Day 18: Half Moon

Here’s another of the classic manis I thought I’d never wear — half moon.

At least I used my kind of colours for it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I used one coat of Golden Rose Velvet Matte No 107 (looking at the photos, I should have used two…) and then freehanded the second coat in Golden Rose Velvet Matte No 105.

These Golden Rose Mattes seriously have my undying love. ๐Ÿ™‚ Amazing formula, super fast-drying and wonderful lasting power. โ™ฅ

Day 11: Polka Dots

I’ve entered the second part — patterns — of the challenge. ๐Ÿ™‚ Thankfully, it starts out easy with polka dots.

I wanted this to be about texture — matte vs shiny.

This Golden Rose Matte Velvet No 101 dotted with Sinful Colors Innocent.

I love the combination of pale blue and lime green. ๐Ÿ˜€ I only noticed there was a piece of lint stuck in the dotting when I was editing the pictures though. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Playing with Texture

I always try never to show the same polish here in the same week, or the same month and usually not even the same year. ๐Ÿ˜‰ However, this is the exception.

But, I’m also showing a polish I haven’t photographed before, so all’s good. ๐Ÿ˜€

I bought Orly’sย Oui last autumn and really loved the cool purple-gold foil to bits and pieces, but somehow never really got around to showing it here.

Two coats and perfect application; I just love Orly’s foils. ๐Ÿ™‚ Of course, I put this on because I was reminded of its existence by the Golden Rose crackle I wore the day before. They’re not identical,ย Oui is cooler in tone, but they are really really close.

And then I got the bright idea to try to layer near identical crackle and polish.

I didn’t use top coat, to keep the matte texture of the crackle polish. The effect is subtle, but really awesome I think. I’ve been staring at my nails all day, because at first glance it looks like a regular polish and then you see that something’s “wrong” with it and it’s just really nifty to look at.

I’m calling this an experiment turned out well. ๐Ÿ˜€

Contrasting Colour

So over crackle, I am. Said it several times before. And then there are exceptions. Like Golden Rose Graffitiย No 11. I picked it up about a month ago, because there was no way I could not after seeing it. This basically looks like one of those gorgeous gold-purple foils that came out last autumn from OPI, Zoya, Orly… you name it.

Ungh. I love this. I love the crackle and I love the contrast it makes with the intense green ofย Four Leaf Clover.

As most crackles (well, actually all I’ve seen) it dries matte, which makes for such interesting texture.

Looks almost antiquated. ๐Ÿ™‚ And I have a few ideas how I’d like to wear it with this finish. However, today I want it to look like behind the glass of the bottle… so topcoated and sparkly it is.

So, what do you think? Sick and tired of crackles, or willing to make exceptions? And matte or shiny? ๐Ÿ˜‰
