Lilac Dreams Comparision

Pale lilacs, lavenders and periwinkles are among the prettiest nail polish colours I can think of… And to my horror I realised that the SpaRitual polishes I bought ages ago were still in my untrieds. 😦

The first one I tried out on a dreary rainy summer day was SpaRitual’s Lucid.

Ungh. Isn’t it pretty? This is a pale very cool lilac with a strong hint of grey.

I also wanted to compare this to some other favourites of mine…

Models Own Beth’s Blue – SpaRitual Lucid – American Apparel L’Esprit – OPI Rumples Wiggin’.

As you can see, Lucid is basically a love child of Beth’s Blue and L’Esprit… though just a bit paler and the formula is sheerer requiring 2-3 coats to be opaque. It’s a very nice and easily controlled formula though!

Suffice to say, this joins my hall of faves. πŸ˜‰

Day 30: Inspired by a Tutorial

There’s this awesome two-tone tutorial that I’ve been meaning to try, so why not now? πŸ˜€

Here’s my take on saran wrap nails as shown by Nailed It.

I painted my nails with a coat of Models Own Grace Green (how I had I forgotten that this gorgeous green is a fast-drying one-coater?) and then used the technique to add a marble in MIYO Perfumed Raspberry.

I really like how this turned out! What I also find interesting that next to the pink, the green looks more like a cool grey and the bright raspberry pink looks like a darker berry pink… πŸ˜›

I’m pretty sure I want to try this with a lighter-darker shade of the same colour… or pastels. πŸ˜€ Or neons! My! The possibilities! πŸ˜€

Almost there! Now, what will I do for task 31 — repeat of my favourite mani… No idea yet, as I love so many of these in the challenge. πŸ™‚

Day 9: Rainbow

I really need to step up with this challenge. While doing this, I’ve accumulated so many new polishes this past week that I can’t wait to try that I’m a little bit frustrated…

Here’s day 9: rainbow nails!

I painted my nails with two coats of Models Own Beth’s Blue — a gorgeous periwinkle pastel creme. (I have so much love for this shade!)

Then I used a toothpick dipped in a variety of polishes (China Glaze Hey Sailor! – Alix Avien No 180 – SH Mellow Yellow – Sinful Colors Innocent – Alessandro Turquoise Ocean – SpaRitual Circle of Life – ChG Flying Dragon).

I had kids call this “rasta-nails”. πŸ˜€ I think we need to re-examine what rasta means with them. πŸ˜›

p.s. I picked up my first MAC lipstick today — Impassioned — and I think I am absolutely in love. My previous everyday lippe was Make Up Store’s Pout, but I wanted a change for the warmer weather… and Impassioned makes me so happy. πŸ˜€

Baby Blues

I picked up some yellow rhinestones the other day and wanted to try them out. This is the mani I planned for that. πŸ™‚

One coat of Models Own Beth’s Blue — a baby blue creme with a hint of lilac — which is fast becoming a favourite due to it being a one-coater pastel with really fast dry-time.

I stamped it over with Snowcrystal No 446 — a petrol shimmer (and OPI’s Yodel Me on My Cell dupe).

I added yellow rhinestones of some of my nails.

Rhinestones are so much easier to use than I’d thought. I need more colours now. πŸ˜‰

Not-So-Green Cremes Comp.

I love green polish. You know that, of course. πŸ˜‰ Today, I’m showing and comparing some of my favourite muted, or slightly “off” greens.

Mavala Bronze Green, Models Own Grace Green, Essie Sew Psyched, Make Up Store Maria

All pretty different and totally awesome. Bronze Green and Sew Psyched have a hidden shimmer that looks awesome in sunshine. I think colour-wise, Maria is the most interesting of these though… it’s unlike anything I have or have seen.

Which is your favourite?

First Watermarble!

I like trying out new things with my nails, so here’s my first attempt at watermarbling. πŸ™‚ I went with some polishes I really like together — Models Own Grace Green, Alix Avien purple creme and Alix Avien white creme.

I started out with a coat of Grace Green and then did my marble over it with the three colours mentioned. It was less and more difficult than I’d expected. The marbling itself was quite easy as was tape-protecting most of my finger from polish, but — there’s always a but — the cuticle cleanup was horrible. I’m usually a neat painter and I’ve rarely had to clean my cuticles from polish so this was uncharted territory.

Needless to say, I went out and bought a corrector pen to help with cleanup for next attempts.

BTW, the funniest thing here is, I subconsciously matched the colours in my winter mittens! πŸ˜€ I only noticed the next day when I was outside.

Gotta admit, I like the effect! So when I have the extra time, I’ll be doing this again. πŸ™‚

Winter Cherries

I decided to update my pastel mani by using one of my Bundle Monster plates and Konad Special White polish.

I don’t really know what this image is supposed to be, but it reminded my sister of cherries, so here you have it — snowcovered winter cherries. πŸ™‚

It looks more spring-y than wintery to me though!Β  I guess I can’t wait. πŸ˜‰

p.s. What do you think about a theme week? Any requests, ideas?
