Nude Nail Art

For some reason, often my first instinct is to do free-hand nail art on a nude-coloured base. I really don’t know why.

Because I’m not even sure I like the effect. That is scribbles on a bare nail. 😛

Still. I seem to have done it again for the weekend.

I first started off my painting my nails with three coats of Alessandro Peaches & CreamHate the formula, but it is the most accurate mannequin hands polish for me in my collection. (I have no idea why I have so many nudes as I really don’t like them…)

And then I used Essie Geranium, Essence Wake Up!, Essence Sundancer and Nubar Milk Chocolate to paint some flowers on the base.

Voila! What are you wearing to welcome in autumn with this weekend? 🙂 And don’t forget to check out the foods! 😉

Day 31: Repeat of Favourite and Done!

I am done. I actually managed to complete this challenge (in 2.5 months, but still). Nobody’s more surprised than me. 😉

For my repeat mani, I decided on Day 14: Flowers.

It’s nicely in the middle of the challenge and, besides that, one of the few freehand techniques I feel competent doing.

I painted my nails with American Apparel’s L’Esprit. For some reason these sort of pastel lilacs are the most flattering nail polish shade on me, but I cannot wear lilac at all as it completely washes me out and clashes with my general skin tone and hair. 😛

After that, I proceeded to paint freehand roses with a toothpick using Sally Hansen X-treme Wear Mellow Yellow, Nubar Milk Chocolate, Orly Fresh and SpaRitual Yes, I Can!

I added a top coat too, as I didn’t bother to use one before the roses…

…but to be honest, I prefer the pre-topcoat textured version.

And there you have it! All 31 tasks done. If you wish to check out what I did, just click the “Challenges” tag above or the 31-days tag in the post. 😀

Ooooh, off to try my untrieds soon! Can’t wait!

Black & White Challenge – Day 10

I decided to try and go out with a bang for the final day of this challenge. 🙂 So I did something I have never done before — freehand nail art. And to make it even more complicated as I don’t own any nail art brushes, I used a toothpick. :p

Here’s my entry for Day 1o – Black and White.

I painted my nails with two coats of China Glaze’s Pelican Gray — a light gray with a hidden shimmer and then went to town using little wooden toothpicks. I used Alix Avien No 60 — a white creme — and Nubar’s Stronghold — a dark gray creme — for the roses. And then a toothpick dipped into China Glaze’s Liquid Leather — a black creme — for the leaves.

This was my first time trying roses as well, so I hope they’re recognisable as ones even despite the grayscale colour scheme. I’m really excited to try them with colours this spring as well as they weren’t nearly as difficult as I expected. 🙂

This was an awesome challenge to participate in and I’m happy I did. 😀 Time to bid adieu though and move back to colours for the coming spring/summer.

Black & White Challenge – Day 8

Almost done! This is quick and dirty as I put this together just when I was running out the door to watch The Hunger Games. 😀 I’m back now and noticed I managed to take only one decent photo… oh well. But the film was worth it! 😉

Here’s my entry for Day 8 – Sponging.

I did my nails with China Glaze’s Liquid Leather and sponged the tips with the Alix Avien white creme No 60 and GOSH’s Vanilla Ice — a sheer white glassfleck polish. In honour of “the girl on fire” I added Nubar’s 2010 on top. 😀

Blueberry Crash

Some time in early August I was picking blueberries in the forest. This was the mani to match.

For my base, I used the perfect purple creme that is China Glaze’s Grape Pop. Of course, it photographs just a bit on the blue side.

Then I added one of my lovely little Depend Crackle Effects — No 5006 — a lilac creme crackle.

And of course I liked it. 🙂 But I liked it even more after a matte top coat.

Well, these were totally camouflage nails for picking blueberries. 🙂

Everything Is Rosy

This is a mani I did on a whim and didn’t expect to love as much as I did. I ended up wearing this for five whole days and only took it off at the first signs of tip wear.

This is three coats of Essie’s St. Martin Mint — a pastel yellow-green creme with a hidden shimmer. Super pretty and really unique on its own. I stamped it with brown roses using Nubar’s Milk Chocolate and Konad plate m65.

Nothing more to add, really. 🙂 Just loved wearing this.

Tree Trunk

I did this mani for a camping trip last weekend. Now, the mani was fun — Nubar’s Milk Chocolate under Isadora’s Latte Queen graffiti top coat — but the trip itself destroyed my nails. I broke not one, but three of them and had to file them down to nubbins.

Entirely suitable for nature and camping, this mani… Isn’t it? 😉
