I’m not even gonna… So I have been polishing my nails. I have been taking photos. And I just haven’t gotten around to transferring most of them to my computer yet. 😛 Mea culpa.
Still, despite that, I have couple of weeks worth of polishes to post about. 🙂
Here’s one from SpaRitual’s spring collection.
This is Deep — a beautiful dark grey creme with hidden purple shimmer. The idea is just lovely. But what would make it even better is if the shimmer were just a tad more noticeable on the nail as well.
Mostly, it just looks like a dark grey creme. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing…
If I could just for the life of me figure out, why this was in the spring collection?
The polish is definitely more fall/winter…
Speaking of “deep”… here’s a bog lake in the evening from a hike a few weeks ago.
There’s this awesome two-tone tutorial that I’ve been meaning to try, so why not now? 😀
Here’s my take on saran wrap nails as shown by Nailed It.
I painted my nails with a coat of Models Own Grace Green (how I had I forgotten that this gorgeous green is a fast-drying one-coater?) and then used the technique to add a marble in MIYO Perfumed Raspberry.
I really like how this turned out! What I also find interesting that next to the pink, the green looks more like a cool grey and the bright raspberry pink looks like a darker berry pink… 😛
I’m pretty sure I want to try this with a lighter-darker shade of the same colour… or pastels. 😀 Or neons! My! The possibilities! 😀
Almost there! Now, what will I do for task 31 — repeat of my favourite mani… No idea yet, as I love so many of these in the challenge. 🙂
I got OPI’s I Don’t Give a Rotterdam ages ago and I absolutely love it. The funny thing is that I had to get this and I Have a Herring Problem, but honestly, without having them side by side I cannot tell much the difference.
Obviously, I Don’t Give a Rotterdam is more muted periwinklethan muted teal, but it has the same gorgeous cool gold flecky glitter.
I really like it when OPI steps out of their comfort zone of red-pink-neutral. And that they’ve been doing it a lot lately. 😀
In other news, I feel like another challenge. So, starting May 1st, I’m embarking on the classic 31 Day Challenge.
OPI’s I Have a Herring Problem is the polish I was most excited about and I’m glad to say it’s exactly what I expected. 🙂 The base is a nice very muted grayish teal with a flecky golden shimmer.
When I finally saw the Holland collection in the store, I was really surprised how close this was to I Don’t Give a Rotterdam and nearly only got one of them… I’m glad I didn’t. 🙂 Two coats, and the perfect OPI formula.
Can’t wait to try the rest of these flecky pretties from OPI. 🙂
I decided to try and go out with a bang for the final day of this challenge. 🙂 So I did something I have never done before — freehand nail art. And to make it even more complicated as I don’t own any nail art brushes, I used a toothpick. :p
Here’s my entry for Day 1o – Black and White.
I painted my nails with two coats of China Glaze’s Pelican Gray — a light gray with a hidden shimmer and then went to town using little wooden toothpicks. I used Alix Avien No 60 — a white creme — and Nubar’s Stronghold — a dark gray creme — for the roses. And then a toothpick dipped into China Glaze’s Liquid Leather — a black creme — for the leaves.
This was my first time trying roses as well, so I hope they’re recognisable as ones even despite the grayscale colour scheme. I’m really excited to try them with colours this spring as well as they weren’t nearly as difficult as I expected. 🙂
This was an awesome challenge to participate in and I’m happy I did. 😀 Time to bid adieu though and move back to colours for the coming spring/summer.
