There’s no sun. And I still have two Pupa holos to try out I bought this summer. Well, at least I can wishful-think that wearing a holo will bring out the sun.
Pupa – Holographic No 081 is a light cool green linear holo. The formula and application of this reminded me a lot of the China Glaze OMG collection polishes. As did the stunning linear holo effect. Almost a one-coater and needing careful application on the second coat.
Actually, even if the polish description calls it light green, there’s a pretty strong blueish tint to it.
As I said, I’m quite infatuated with For Audrey on my nails, so I didn’t want to take it off yet. Instead, I updated my mani (something I haven’t done in ages) with a glitter topper.
I used BYS Pot of Gold — golden holo hex glitter of various sizes in a sheer yellow-tinted base — over For Audrey. I actually quite like how the yellowish base of the glitter gives a more greenish cast to the base polish.
It’s a cute combo and perfect for the final days of summer. And it actually makes me wonder why I think I don’t like sheer glitter toppers…. because I do like my nails with this mani.
It’s another sunny late summer day. These seem to be coming about rarely lately… so I should have busted out a shimmer, but instead I’m wearing a creme.
This is China Glaze For Audrey. I had it in my wishlist for ages (mostly because I just adore Audrey Hepburn) and finally bought it this winter.
To be honest, I wasn’t that impressed with the colour… I mean it’s a light aqua creme and I have those. Still, on the nails it was love! There’s something so soft and appealing about this particular shade. 🙂
I actually don’t think I have anything that’s a true dupe for this in my collection (if you don’t count the Crackle Glaze in Crushed Candy 😉 ).
This seems to be the autumn of duochromes (I wanted to say “fall”, but that really wouldn’t have worked here 😉 ) so I busted out one of my pretty Misslyns I haven’t shown on this blog yet.
Feast your eyes on Blue Planet. A turquoise to purple duochrome shimmer that’s pretty much amazing.
The colour shift is really strong and the formula is just lovely.
As per usual, the duochrome is at its strongest in low and/or indirect light… however, the colour is beautiful even when looking like a straight up shimmer in direct sunlight.
This polish pretty much slays me. I love that unlike most duo- and multichromes I own this is really opaque and I could actually get away with one thicker coat though I went for two for the pictures. 🙂
I wanted to practice my sponging some more, so I did and combined it with today’s challenge — stripes.
I painted my nails with Sinful Colours Mint Apple, then sponged the tips with China Glaze Trendsetter.
After that (in keeping with the task) I added freehand stripes using the BYS nail art polish in Mirror Blue.
I love the complimenting colours with the similar finishes. This is definitely my favourite mani of this challenge atm. I’m dreading the fact that I have to take it off soon to go on with the challenge. 😛
I really need to step up with this challenge. While doing this, I’ve accumulated so many new polishes this past week that I can’t wait to try that I’m a little bit frustrated…
Here’s day 9: rainbow nails!
I painted my nails with two coats of Models Own Beth’s Blue — a gorgeous periwinkle pastel creme. (I have so much love for this shade!)
Then I used a toothpick dipped in a variety of polishes (China Glaze Hey Sailor! – Alix Avien No 180 – SH Mellow Yellow – Sinful Colors Innocent – Alessandro Turquoise Ocean – SpaRitual Circle of Life – ChG Flying Dragon).
I had kids call this “rasta-nails”. 😀 I think we need to re-examine what rasta means with them. 😛
p.s. I picked up my first MAC lipstick today — Impassioned — and I think I am absolutely in love. My previous everyday lippe was Make Up Store’s Pout, but I wanted a change for the warmer weather… and Impassioned makes me so happy. 😀
