Bringing Sunshine to…

…the dark autumn days. 😀

Hello, gorgeous! This is my favourite shade of yellow. Deep, vivid… ochre or egg yolk or whatever you want to call it.

Pupa No 088 went on easily in two coats and it’s instantly become one of my favourite creme polishes. 😀

This has been matching my outfits for days. 😛 I have enough tops, sweaters, skirts, dresses, pants *and* a blazer in this shade of yellow I could play matchup for ages. 😉

And yup, not just being my favourite shade of yellow, side by side with royal blue this is one of my two favourite colours. 🙂

Nude Nail Art

For some reason, often my first instinct is to do free-hand nail art on a nude-coloured base. I really don’t know why.

Because I’m not even sure I like the effect. That is scribbles on a bare nail. 😛

Still. I seem to have done it again for the weekend.

I first started off my painting my nails with three coats of Alessandro Peaches & CreamHate the formula, but it is the most accurate mannequin hands polish for me in my collection. (I have no idea why I have so many nudes as I really don’t like them…)

And then I used Essie Geranium, Essence Wake Up!, Essence Sundancer and Nubar Milk Chocolate to paint some flowers on the base.

Voila! What are you wearing to welcome in autumn with this weekend? 🙂 And don’t forget to check out the foods! 😉

Holo-Gradient-Skittle Friday!

Yup, you heard that right. 😉

So, when I was looking at my polishes and realised I had enough similar finish holos to do a rainbow skittle I decided to do just that for the end of the week.

You know, all nails in different scattered holos. (I actually slightly prefer scattered holos to linear holos and the formula is usually easier and the same base and top coat as with “regular” polish is non-problematic to use.)

Teeez Outta Control – Teeez Cool – Catherine Arley No 803 – Catherine Arely No 801

And Teeez Smooth on the thumb.

Having done that, I looked at my nails and thought — “Why not go for a gradient  transition between the colours?”

I absolutely adore the effect! And it wasn’t even particularly difficult to do. 🙂

I could just go on posting pictures of this mani… but I’m gonna stop here. 😉

Summer on the river in the city.

What About Some Yellow?

Yellow’s always a somewhat problematic shade for me. Usually the formula is bizarre and a case of lobster hands is a given.

So, I was a bit worried to try out the yellow Sun-Kissed from China Glaze Neons… but luckily, even despite the three coats, the formula was really nice!

Plus, it didn’t look weird on my hands. 🙂 All in all, not my favourite from the collection, but a nice neon yellow to own. 🙂

Day 31: Repeat of Favourite and Done!

I am done. I actually managed to complete this challenge (in 2.5 months, but still). Nobody’s more surprised than me. 😉

For my repeat mani, I decided on Day 14: Flowers.

It’s nicely in the middle of the challenge and, besides that, one of the few freehand techniques I feel competent doing.

I painted my nails with American Apparel’s L’Esprit. For some reason these sort of pastel lilacs are the most flattering nail polish shade on me, but I cannot wear lilac at all as it completely washes me out and clashes with my general skin tone and hair. 😛

After that, I proceeded to paint freehand roses with a toothpick using Sally Hansen X-treme Wear Mellow Yellow, Nubar Milk Chocolate, Orly Fresh and SpaRitual Yes, I Can!

I added a top coat too, as I didn’t bother to use one before the roses…

…but to be honest, I prefer the pre-topcoat textured version.

And there you have it! All 31 tasks done. If you wish to check out what I did, just click the “Challenges” tag above or the 31-days tag in the post. 😀

Ooooh, off to try my untrieds soon! Can’t wait!

Day 27: Inspired by Artwork

I’m back! A little bit of shopping done too. 🙂

And I wonder if anybody else has ever taken over two months to do this challenge, but I’m nearly there. 🙂

Just three days to go and here I am getting inspired by my favourite flowers and the artist who probably has painted them most famously.

I started by painting my nails with my all time favourite light blue — OPI What’s With the Cattitude? — and then added random circles of darker blue with China Glaze’s Flyin’ High.

After that, I taped off uneven parts of my nails and painted them with Essence Sundancer. Then I added sunflower water decals.

I really love how summery this is!

Though this kinda makes me want to wear What’s With the Cattitude? on its own again soon. 😉

Day 20: Water Marble

Here’s the watermarble day of the challenge. 🙂 But before that, a little rant — I’m in a nail polish funk lately, it seems. I spent some time in Finland (hence the slight absence, sorry!) and dropped by some stores and looked at all the H&M, Models Own, Wet’n’Wild, etc polishes I’ve been craving…

And came back home without picking up a single one. 😮 I mean, they were pretty, but I could always think of a polish I already owned which was pretty much the same. Ditto with the gorgeous Alessandro summer collection full of stunners. 😦

Kind of makes me want to shout: Aren’t there any original polishes out there any more?!

Enough of that, here’s my watermarble:

I used American Apparel L’Esprit for the base. Then I used L’Esprit, Essence Surferama and MIYO Peacock for the marble.

I think it turned out alright, but I’m not a fan of the waterbubbles on some of the nails. Also, Peacock turned out to be a bit too sheer — I wanted a pastel yellow to contrast the lilac and berry pink, but instead it looks like an off-white.

Still, considering I’ve done a watermarble only twice before… not too shabby. 🙂
