Autumnal Green for Winter

So. This has been a long time coming. ๐Ÿ˜› Both in that I’m showing a polish that I was so excited to get, but which somehow lounged about my untrieds drawer for over two years. And in it being my first post in nearly two weeks. :O

Seriously though, I’ve been so busy I haven’t turned on my home computer in all that time and I think I’ve changed my polish only once.

Here’s Mavala Bronze Green.

Perfect at two coats this is a dusky muted military green creme with tons of bright dark green shimmer.

Beautiful. And unique in my collection when I got it and still. ๐Ÿ™‚

I went cross country skiing this weekend for the first time in years and there seemed to be a convention of huskies there. So cute!

The Two Reincarnations of a NYE Mani

First of all: happy new year all! ๐Ÿ˜€ Secondly, my main resolution that relates to my online activities is definitely to try to update my blog more often. I mean, I still do my nails with alarming frequency… no reason why I shouldn’t upload the pics.

When I was over at my mum’s for Christmas, she went about reading predictions and horoscopes for 2013 (she’s into things like that ๐Ÿ™‚ ) and while I knew nothing about the lucky colours for the brand new 2013 before…

I remembered my mum saying that combinations of purple and silver were the luckiest thing. So that’s what I went with for my NYE mani.

I did my nails with the perfect purple creme of China Glaze’s Grape Pop (still a favourite!) and sponged on an old purple-y multicoloured glitter polish and my ring finger with the accent of Orly Out of This World complete with silver studs.

I adored this mani and wore it for three days. And then yesterday decided to update it keeping the accent finger. I love the studs!

I used an old favourite here as well — China Glaze Grape Juice and kept the purple theme.

I adore Grape Juice, but I’m sadly now out of it. Maybe enough left for an accent nail or two in the bottle, but no full manis with it anymore. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

So, which do you like more? ๐Ÿ™‚

Ready for Christmas

Feels like there are a couple of dozen manis in my folders I haven’t gotten around to posting this year. Probably feels that way, because it’s true. ๐Ÿ˜›

Still, with this mani I’m not playing catch-up as I added the top coat minutes ago and now all I need to be completely ready for Christmas is to bake myย gingersnaps. ๐Ÿ˜€

So, not having done nail art for a long time, I was just overflowing with ideas for what I wanted on my nails for Christmas.

And when there’s a difficult choice to be made… go with everything. ๐Ÿ˜€ So, skittles it is.

BeYu No 209 with BYS Pot of Gold – China Glaze Hey Sailor! tipped with Twinkle Lights – China Glaze Midnight Kiss stamped with red and tipped with OPI Rainbow Connection – China Glaze Ruby Pumps on the pinkie

My thumb was the deep yellow of Pupa No 088 topped with Twinkle Lights and Pot of Gold.

I love every single nail! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

That said, I’d forgotten justย howย gorgeous Ruby Pumps is! It’s been over a year since it was on my nails and with all the fascinating multichromes and stuff coming out lately, it’s easy to forget such a classic. But seriously. It has to be one of the most beautiful polishes ever made. Not even kidding. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope everybody is enjoying their holidays! ๐Ÿ™‚

Snowy Crispiness

The weather guys promised us snow from the middle of this week, and boy, have they delivered.

It’s not the first snow of the season, but it’s probably the one that’s gonna stick around for the next four months or so.

Double “brr”.

A white to match everything I see.

OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls — a super light gray or a white with a hint of gray. Take your pick. ๐Ÿ˜‰

This was actually my only choice from the Spiderman collection. Just goes to show how jaded I’ve become about interesting polishes that the off-white creme seemed the best pick. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I actually really like it on my nails though.

Now, I just wish I could stay inside andย look at the white pretty outside. But I’m gonna wrap myself up in woollen scarves and brave the weather as I’m off to see Cloud Atlas. ๐Ÿ˜€

Welcome to the winter wonderland!

Bringing Sunshine to…

…the dark autumn days. ๐Ÿ˜€

Hello, gorgeous! This is my favourite shade of yellow. Deep, vivid… ochre or egg yolk or whatever you want to call it.

Pupa No 088 went on easily in two coats and it’s instantly become one of my favourite creme polishes. ๐Ÿ˜€

This has been matching my outfits for days. ๐Ÿ˜› I have enough tops, sweaters, skirts, dresses, pants *and* a blazer in this shade of yellow I could play matchup for ages. ๐Ÿ˜‰

And yup, not just being my favourite shade of yellow, side by side with royal blue this is one of my two favourite colours. ๐Ÿ™‚

Precious Treasure

I bought this polish a little over a year ago and I’ve actually worn it a few times since… never got around to posting about it though!

Despite coming from last year’s fall collection Alessandro’s Precious Treasure reminds me a lot of the gothic, blackened shimmers that so many brands have been putting out this year.

It has a dark navy base with tons of large, flecky green and blue shimmer.

Definitely feeling the inspiration behind the name here… shimmery treasures in the depths of the ocean. Look at me all poetic. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Second consequtive day posting? I’m on a roll! ๐Ÿ˜€

Something cute to go with something precious.

Deep Grey

I’m not even gonna… So I have been polishing my nails. I have been taking photos. And I just haven’t gotten around toย transferringย most of them to my computer yet. ๐Ÿ˜›ย Mea culpa.

Still, despite that, I have couple of weeks worth of polishes to post about. ๐Ÿ™‚

Here’s one from SpaRitual’s spring collection.

This is Deep — a beautiful dark grey creme with hidden purple shimmer. The idea is just lovely. But what would make it even better is if the shimmer were just a tad more noticeable on the nail as well.

Mostly, it just looks like a dark grey creme. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing…

If I could just for the life of me figure out, why this was in theย spring collection?

The polish is definitely more fall/winter…

Speaking of “deep”… here’s a bog lake in the evening from a hike a few weeks ago.
