Fowl Play

Time to revisit an old non-favourite that has now redeemed itself. That happens to me sometimes — dislike of a polish turns into love for a polish.

This is why I hesitate to give away polishes I haven’t liked that much. 😛

Orly Fowl Play is a good example of this. For some reason I felt really… meh… about it the first time I wore it (despite loving it in the bottle) but this time…

I’m *really* liking it!

It’s squishy and interesting and just in general a fun vampy cold season polish. 😀

Voila! In with the old! 😀

It’s snowing insanely again, so it’s nice to remember the almost reasonably bare ground of only a couple days ago.

Ready for Christmas

Feels like there are a couple of dozen manis in my folders I haven’t gotten around to posting this year. Probably feels that way, because it’s true. 😛

Still, with this mani I’m not playing catch-up as I added the top coat minutes ago and now all I need to be completely ready for Christmas is to bake my gingersnaps. 😀

So, not having done nail art for a long time, I was just overflowing with ideas for what I wanted on my nails for Christmas.

And when there’s a difficult choice to be made… go with everything. 😀 So, skittles it is.

BeYu No 209 with BYS Pot of Gold – China Glaze Hey Sailor! tipped with Twinkle Lights – China Glaze Midnight Kiss stamped with red and tipped with OPI Rainbow Connection – China Glaze Ruby Pumps on the pinkie

My thumb was the deep yellow of Pupa No 088 topped with Twinkle Lights and Pot of Gold.

I love every single nail! 😀 😀

That said, I’d forgotten just how gorgeous Ruby Pumps is! It’s been over a year since it was on my nails and with all the fascinating multichromes and stuff coming out lately, it’s easy to forget such a classic. But seriously. It has to be one of the most beautiful polishes ever made. Not even kidding. 🙂

Hope everybody is enjoying their holidays! 🙂

Redcurrant Jelly

If ever there was a more accurately named polish…

Maybelline Colorama Redcurrant Jelly is a deep vampy red jelly. Pretty much the exact colour of its namesake (I love redcurrant jelly!) and with an easy two coat formula.

Probably the reason why I still own it and love it. It is almost a decade old, after all, and one of the oldest polishes I own…

It also goes very well with my current favourite — MAC Viva Glam I lippie. 😉

It’s Blue Today

After wearing Skyscraper, which is one of my favourite blue glitters, I felt inspired to dig out one of my oldest polishes.

In fact, this comes from either my first or second nail polish haul, back when I first started collection. And boy, was I excited to get it! And then I swatched it on one nail, felt incredibly disappointed and off it went to the black hole that is the untrieds drawer.

China Glaze Meteor Shower. Insanely pretty in the bottle. Insanely difficult on the nails. The formula is the old, stinky kind, which is also goopy and difficult to manage.

Upside — it only takes two coats.

Dries really gritty though. I used two coats of Seche on top and probably could have used a third.

Once you’ve done all the hard work, it is gorgeous. The work is hard enough and there are a lot easier glitters around now though, that once every three years is probably as often as I’m gonna wear it. 😛

The day before the snow came.

Sometimes you just have to shimmer and sparkle. I felt like that a couple of weeks ago and finally got around to posting this beautiful polish.

I bought China Glaze’s Skyscraper last autumn and it actually made it to my favourites of 2011; however, I never got around to taking pictures until now.

This is just an amazingly sparkly denim blue jelly filled with silver glitter.

One of my favourite things about this (besides being stunning!) is that it’s opaque and smooth without extra effort unlike a lot of other glitters I’ve met. 😉

A lot here to love. 🙂 I think of this as an “adult” glitter as well for some reason… unlike more extravagant glitters I feel comfortable wearing this to work. Luckily I don’t have a neutral polish rule… but I still feel kinda off with some stuff.

We got a ton of snow the past weekend! Here’s one of my favourite running routes a week ago. Racked up a lovely 15k still despite the more-skating than running factor of that particular day. 😉

Golden Red

Let’s kick October off with an amazing fall polish. I was staring at SpaRitual’s LE collection of polishes infused with real gold this summer and every single one of them was beautiful.

Unfortunately, the price tag meant I made myself only get one of them.

Rusted Lux consists of flecky golden glitter in a sheer raspberry red base. The overall effect is an incredibly sparkly warm red foil.

I look at the red and orange trees outside and this polish really is autumn in a bottle.

The first coat was pretty sheer, but in actuality it took only three easy coats to get it opaque. Lovely formula too. 🙂

I absolutely adore this one! 😀

Day 29: Inspired by the Supernatural

Oooh! Almost there! So when I thought about this task of the challenge, I immediately thought dark and gloomy and possibly ghosts or the like… But to be honest, it’s the summer, and I don’t want to do dark and gloomy.

I painted my nails with two coats of this über-cheap light green scattered holo I picked up at a random store a couple of years ago. It’s called HoloNails 3D H8.

Then I used a dotting tool and Orly’s Fresh to add the flubber tips.

Love it!

Even if today’s not the best day for holos… there’s this amazing thunderstorm outside. Flashing and flashing. My cat’s face is priceless and she refuses to leave my lap, my thighs will bear the marks of her claws for several days now. 😛
