The Two Reincarnations of a NYE Mani

First of all: happy new year all! ๐Ÿ˜€ Secondly, my main resolution that relates to my online activities is definitely to try to update my blog more often. I mean, I still do my nails with alarming frequency… no reason why I shouldn’t upload the pics.

When I was over at my mum’s for Christmas, she went about reading predictions and horoscopes for 2013 (she’s into things like that ๐Ÿ™‚ ) and while I knew nothing about the lucky colours for the brand new 2013 before…

I remembered my mum saying that combinations of purple and silver were the luckiest thing. So that’s what I went with for my NYE mani.

I did my nails with the perfect purple creme of China Glaze’s Grape Pop (still a favourite!) and sponged on an old purple-y multicoloured glitter polish and my ring finger with the accent of Orly Out of This World complete with silver studs.

I adored this mani and wore it for three days. And then yesterday decided to update it keeping the accent finger. I love the studs!

I used an old favourite here as well — China Glaze Grape Juice and kept the purple theme.

I adore Grape Juice, but I’m sadly now out of it. Maybe enough left for an accent nail or two in the bottle, but no full manis with it anymore. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

So, which do you like more? ๐Ÿ™‚

Ready for Christmas

Feels like there are a couple of dozen manis in my folders I haven’t gotten around to posting this year. Probably feels that way, because it’s true. ๐Ÿ˜›

Still, with this mani I’m not playing catch-up as I added the top coat minutes ago and now all I need to be completely ready for Christmas is to bake myย gingersnaps. ๐Ÿ˜€

So, not having done nail art for a long time, I was just overflowing with ideas for what I wanted on my nails for Christmas.

And when there’s a difficult choice to be made… go with everything. ๐Ÿ˜€ So, skittles it is.

BeYu No 209 with BYS Pot of Gold – China Glaze Hey Sailor! tipped with Twinkle Lights – China Glaze Midnight Kiss stamped with red and tipped with OPI Rainbow Connection – China Glaze Ruby Pumps on the pinkie

My thumb was the deep yellow of Pupa No 088 topped with Twinkle Lights and Pot of Gold.

I love every single nail! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

That said, I’d forgotten justย howย gorgeous Ruby Pumps is! It’s been over a year since it was on my nails and with all the fascinating multichromes and stuff coming out lately, it’s easy to forget such a classic. But seriously. It has to be one of the most beautiful polishes ever made. Not even kidding. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope everybody is enjoying their holidays! ๐Ÿ™‚

Holo-Gradient-Skittle Friday!

Yup, you heard that right. ๐Ÿ˜‰

So, when I was looking at my polishes and realised I had enough similar finish holos to do a rainbow skittle I decided to do just that for the end of the week.

You know, all nails in different scattered holos. (I actually slightly prefer scattered holos to linear holos and the formula is usually easier and the same base and top coat as with “regular” polish is non-problematic to use.)

Teeez Outta Control – Teeez Cool – Catherine Arley No 803 – Catherine Arely No 801

And Teeez Smooth on the thumb.

Having done that, I looked at my nails and thought — “Why not go for a gradient ย transition between the colours?”

I absolutely adore the effect! And it wasn’t even particularly difficult to do. ๐Ÿ™‚

I could just go on posting pictures of this mani… but I’m gonna stop here. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Summer on the river in the city.

Day 28: Inspired by a Flag

Here’s my mani inspired by the blue-black-white of the Estonian tricolour. ๐Ÿ™‚

I painted my nails with Alix Avien’s No 60 and then sponged on China Glaze’s Liquid Leather and BYS Royal Blue.

Quite like this one! ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks to the sponging, it looks like a more pastel and summery version of the flag…

Day 13: Animal Print

Here’s another one I love — animal prints! When I decided to do this challenge… I had the idea of doing zebra stripes for the animal print part (as I haven’t tried that stamp yet) but I felt it would be too close to the previous task.

So, instead I did a leopard spots mani over the gorgeous OPI Warm & Fozzie (seriously love for this polish!):

I sponged on a little bit of China Glaze’s Swing Baby to add a little bit of slightly different colour and then added the leopard spots using a black nail art polish and Konad.

I felt this was a bit too blingy for me though and the spots didn’t show up well enough, so I mattiefied the entire thing.

Much better! And I can see myself not wanting to take off this one as well. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Day 12: Stripes

This is my favourite mani so far! ๐Ÿ˜€

I wanted to practice my sponging some more, so I did and combined it with today’s challenge — stripes.

I painted my nails with Sinful Colours Mint Apple, then sponged the tips with China Glaze Trendsetter.

After that (in keeping with the task) I added freehand stripes using the BYS nail art polish in Mirror Blue.

I love the complimenting colours with the similar finishes. This is definitely my favourite mani of this challenge atm. I’m dreading the fact that I have to take it off soon to go on with the challenge. ๐Ÿ˜›

Day 10: Gradient Nails

Ok, so the easy part of the challenge is nearly over. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Here’s my day 10: gradient nails.

This was sorta inspired by strawberries. ๐Ÿ˜€ But a lot messier than I’d first intended… still need to practice those gradients quite a bit (and pick up a makeup sponge while I’m at it!)

Two coats of Orly Fresh, tips sponged with Barry M Fuchsia and Lumene Soul Shaker.

Tomorrow the second decade of the challenge starts — all about nail art — and colour me a bit scared. ๐Ÿ˜‰
