The Two Reincarnations of a NYE Mani

First of all: happy new year all! 😀 Secondly, my main resolution that relates to my online activities is definitely to try to update my blog more often. I mean, I still do my nails with alarming frequency… no reason why I shouldn’t upload the pics.

When I was over at my mum’s for Christmas, she went about reading predictions and horoscopes for 2013 (she’s into things like that 🙂 ) and while I knew nothing about the lucky colours for the brand new 2013 before…

I remembered my mum saying that combinations of purple and silver were the luckiest thing. So that’s what I went with for my NYE mani.

I did my nails with the perfect purple creme of China Glaze’s Grape Pop (still a favourite!) and sponged on an old purple-y multicoloured glitter polish and my ring finger with the accent of Orly Out of This World complete with silver studs.

I adored this mani and wore it for three days. And then yesterday decided to update it keeping the accent finger. I love the studs!

I used an old favourite here as well — China Glaze Grape Juice and kept the purple theme.

I adore Grape Juice, but I’m sadly now out of it. Maybe enough left for an accent nail or two in the bottle, but no full manis with it anymore. 😦

So, which do you like more? 🙂

And on the Second Day of Christmas

it’s all about green! 😀

And glitter. Green and glitter. 🙂 When I originally saw this in the display for China Glaze’s Holiday collection I decided not to pick this up, because I thought something along the lines, “OMG this looks so amazing in the bottle that it can’t possibly live up to the promise on the nail and I don’t want to set myself up for disappointment.”

Because that happens quite often with glitters.

That said, I still ended up buying Winter Holly. 😛

It delivers. Boy, does it deliver! 😀 Evergreen glitter with holo particles means this is my new favourite Christmas green.

Well done, China Glaze! 🙂

And I hope everybody’s enjoying their holidays. I know I am with my Battlestar Galactica marathon. 😉

p.s. My cat is also a sci-fi enthusiast. 🙂

Ready for Christmas

Feels like there are a couple of dozen manis in my folders I haven’t gotten around to posting this year. Probably feels that way, because it’s true. 😛

Still, with this mani I’m not playing catch-up as I added the top coat minutes ago and now all I need to be completely ready for Christmas is to bake my gingersnaps. 😀

So, not having done nail art for a long time, I was just overflowing with ideas for what I wanted on my nails for Christmas.

And when there’s a difficult choice to be made… go with everything. 😀 So, skittles it is.

BeYu No 209 with BYS Pot of Gold – China Glaze Hey Sailor! tipped with Twinkle Lights – China Glaze Midnight Kiss stamped with red and tipped with OPI Rainbow Connection – China Glaze Ruby Pumps on the pinkie

My thumb was the deep yellow of Pupa No 088 topped with Twinkle Lights and Pot of Gold.

I love every single nail! 😀 😀

That said, I’d forgotten just how gorgeous Ruby Pumps is! It’s been over a year since it was on my nails and with all the fascinating multichromes and stuff coming out lately, it’s easy to forget such a classic. But seriously. It has to be one of the most beautiful polishes ever made. Not even kidding. 🙂

Hope everybody is enjoying their holidays! 🙂

The Glitter of Doom

I had heard things about MAC polishes. Non-flattering things. But I could not resist Everything That Glitters. Mostly because I don’t have access to its more favorably formulated lookalikes..

This polish is so “me” I can’t even… So, no regrets on that front. The look is utter love at first sight.

But the formula… I almost cried! The glue-y gooey thickness of it. Just no. No, thank you. I think I might be turned off from MAC polishes for good. I just can’t justify the quality-price relationship. (MAC lipsticks are a totally different thing though 😉 )

As for this one, I’ll add a bit of thinner and hope for the best. 🙂

Christmas in Tallinn

Kicking Off the Christmas Manis

With a combo of green, of course.

Sinful Colors Happy Ending and Orly Meet Me Under the Mistletoe and my trusty dotting tool bring you this Season’s mani. 🙂

Been a while since I’ve worn green… quite like it! 😀

No fancy pictures, just the latte that makes my December. 🙂 Nothing like cozy cafes and warm spicy drinks to make you love the season.

Extravagance is the Order

I’ve been pondering OPI’s DS polishes for ages. For some reason I just don’t want to pay the price of five China Glazes for a single bottle…

But in the end I caved and bought Extravagance.

I am so glad I did! It’s insanely pretty. The regular spiel about pictures not doing it justice and they really don’t! A deep, vampy berry pink with tons of holo and prismatic shimmer. Tons. The depth of this polish is stunning. Way better than any regular scattered holo I can think of.

I repeat again. No justice whatsoever in the pics. 😀

Snowy Crispiness

The weather guys promised us snow from the middle of this week, and boy, have they delivered.

It’s not the first snow of the season, but it’s probably the one that’s gonna stick around for the next four months or so.

Double “brr”.

A white to match everything I see.

OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls — a super light gray or a white with a hint of gray. Take your pick. 😉

This was actually my only choice from the Spiderman collection. Just goes to show how jaded I’ve become about interesting polishes that the off-white creme seemed the best pick. 😉

I actually really like it on my nails though.

Now, I just wish I could stay inside and look at the white pretty outside. But I’m gonna wrap myself up in woollen scarves and brave the weather as I’m off to see Cloud Atlas. 😀

Welcome to the winter wonderland!
