Gradient Fail

Some ideas are better in theory than practice. 😛 Here’s one of them. I tried for a faux French gradient with GOSH’s Miss Sweety (a peach creme) and China Glaze’s Cheers to You (a silver foil) sponged on the tips.

It actually looked pretty interesting in evening lamp light, but not that good in natural light.

So, what do you think?

Pink Wednesday

It’s that time of the week again! I’m going a little subtle on the pink front today covering the super-shiny pink metallic of Flormal’s No 360 with a little crackle thanks to Isadora’s Latte Queen.

I got the Flormal polish with stamping in mind, but unfortunately it’s a two-coater and not quite opaque enough for that. It’s a pretty and shiny pink, but not entirely ‘my’ colour.

I added Latte Queen on top to make this mani more comfortable for me.

I ended up really liking how this mani turned out. 🙂

Mustardy-Tan in Bloom

Seriously. What is this colour? I knew I absolutely had to have American Apparel’s Trench Coat the moment I heard of it, just because its ugly-prettiness made it irresistible to me.

Of course, I was prepared that it would clash horribly with my pasty pale skin. I didn’t care; still wanted it.

Well, I can’t say it’s flattering… but it ain’t bad! I’m not rocking good old lobster hands with it, so all’s well in my world. 😉

However. the formula of this one was a Nightmare. Capitalised. So thick and gloopy and impossible to get even. Thank god for good top coats. This is gonna sit with some thinner now, before next time.

However, I still love this polish in all its ugly glory.

I even prettified it a little, by stamping flowers from a BM plate using Barry M’s Cobalt Blue.

Latte Queen

At first, I wasn’t all that interested in Isadora’s spring collection of Graffitis — their crackle polishes. It’s a follow-up to their previous crackles with spring-y, pastel colours — pale blue, pale pink, pale beige and a chocolate brown crackle.

However, after a month or so of staring at it, I finally picked up the light beige crackle — Latte Queen.

I think this will work as a great neutraliser for more in-your-face polishes. But I’m also really excited to try this over other neutrals and especially taupes. 🙂

Here it is without the top coat:

Kinda cool, if I do say so myself. 🙂

Btw, this is over my previous many — Manhattan’s 87D.
