Oh, Sweet Margarita!

Now, this is going to sound strange for me, but I think my favourite from the Beach Beauty collection is a red! But not just any red — Alessandro’s Sweet Margarita is orange and pink flecks of shimmer in a cool red base. It looks pretty much like a duochrome on the nails in indirect light with the flaming orange and cool pink fighting for dominance:

And this is just in the shade! In direct sunlight, the pink and the orange combine to make an insanely sparkly glowing red.

Look at the pink and orange sparklies in the last close-up! *swoons*

This was also a two-coater, same as Long Island, which I showed yesterday.

Summer Cocktails

I was in the store the other day, when I saw that Alessandro’s Summer 2011 collection is out. Ten beautiful polishes in finishes from creme to foil named after some delicious umbrella drinks. Yum! The collection is called Beach Beauty and I just had to pick up four (and several more were very very tempting!)

I’ll start showing these polishes from today, plus I have a little preview of what else is coming up.

The first polish from this collection that I could not wait to wear was one of the two oranges — Long Island (Ice Tea) is an insanely sparkly orange base chock full of glass fleck shimmer from yellow, to orange to warm pink. It’s positively glowing and opaque in two coats.

This has got to be my new favourite orange! And this summer, everybody needs an orange polish. 😉

Here’s a peek at the other polishes from this collection that I’ll be showing you:

The rightmost one — Mojito Mint –, I thought would be a dupe for Orly’s Fresh from the Summer 2011 collection Happy Go Lucky…

…but thankfully, it’s not. 🙂 It does remind me of some other polishes in my stash still though, so I’ll have to do a little comparision.

And I still need to show you Fresh as a full mani; this somehow fell into my “Lost Week”. So much to do!

Pink Wednesday + New Ring

I finally tried out a polish I’ve been really excited about — China Glaze’s Crackle Glaze in pink — Broken Hearted.

Now, some swatches I’ve seen made me a bit apprehensive about trying out China Glaze’s crackles as they didn’t seem to be crackling as well as the Isadora and Depend ones I’m used to…

Guess, the rumors weren’t true. This applied and crackled perfectly. All I had to do were my regular tricks with crackles — a) shake rigorously before use, b) apply in two thin coats on each nail. The two thin coats need to be in a row on the same nail so the bottom one doesn’t get a chance to crackle and dry.

And voila! perfect cracks. 😉

I also got a new ring which I adore:

p.s. I am addicted to Marks & Spencer All Butter Chocolate Chunk Cookies. Bodes trouble for the summer figure. 😛 Also means I wanna do a chocolate chunk cookie mani. 😉

Dusty Periwinkle

I can’t think of a more flattering shade of polish than blue tinted with purple. This polish is beyond lovely. Alessandro’s On Tour is a dusty light-to-medium periwinkle blue. This is definitely one of my favourites from The It Girl collection.

Two coats and lovely application.

Last week or so, I updated my blog layout (though I kept the header and colour scheme) and now I’m experimenting with new watermarks and pictures as well.

Mmm… Now, I’ve got to figure out how to do pink for tomorrow.

Pink Wednesday — Strawberry Milkshake

Another pink today — this time, I went with Alessandro’s Milkshake, which is a pale pastel pink creme.

The formula was quite thick and opaque so this was perfect in two coats.

This is such a near-white pink that it actually manages to make my hands look slightly tan. 🙂

Me like.
